Michelin stars, flaming Peking ducks, Hong Kong-style dim sum trolleys, and a whole duck for AED 118 in International City. We ranked them all β with honest scores and no sponsored positions.
The benchmark. Dubai's only Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant sits inside Atlantis The Palm, and it earns that star every service. Chef Andy Toh's Cantonese cooking is technically flawless β the dim sum as precise as jewellery, the lychee lobster with yuzu pearl genuinely one of the best dishes in Dubai in any cuisine. The moody, lantern-lit interior manages to be both intimate and dramatic. Book weeks ahead for weekends. This is the one you bring clients and partners to.
Level 73, Address Beach Resort. The view alone is worth the visit β but so is the food. Mott 32's 42-day apple wood-roasted Peking duck (AED 688, serves 2β4, must be pre-ordered) is the most theatrical and most delicious duck in Dubai. The Cantonese-leaning menu is extensive and beautifully executed. The bar is excellent. This is where Dubai's food world celebrates special occasions β and where you'll spend considerably more than you intended.
Hutong in Gate Building 6, DIFC is the most exciting Chinese restaurant in Dubai for flavour. Northern Chinese cuisine: bold, occasionally fiery, always confident. The flaming Peking duck is pure theatre. The dim sum (AED 55β145) is some of the city's best. The Saturday brunch with drinks from AED 288 is a Dubai institution. The Silk Road-inspired interior features hand-carved wooden panels and dramatic red lanterns β beautiful without trying too hard.
Shang Palace at the Shangri-La Hotel is the gold standard for traditional Cantonese cooking in Dubai. Michelin Guide-listed and justified: the dim sum is flawless, the Peking duck portions generous, the service formal in all the right ways. This is where Hong Kong expats come when homesick, where Chinese businesspeople hold working lunches, and where serious food lovers go to understand Cantonese cuisine at its most authentic. Weekend yum cha is a must-do Dubai dining experience.
At FIVE Palm Jumeirah, Maiden Shanghai brings together Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghai and Beijing traditions into a bold, entirely MSG-free kitchen. The Peking duck is excellent β the Kung Pao lobster is better. The poolside-adjacent setting gives it an energy that more staid Chinese restaurants can't match. Ideal for mixed groups (converts the Chinese food skeptics) and for celebrations where you want buzzy atmosphere alongside serious cooking.
XU at Kempinski is one of Dubai's most underrated Chinese restaurants β perhaps because its hotel location leads some to underestimate it. The Cherry Wood Peking duck is outstanding, the Cantonese dim sum at weekends genuinely competes with Shang Palace, and the service is impeccable in that Kempinski way. A more accessible price point than Hakkasan or Mott 32, with cooking that often rivals them on specific dishes.
The most important Chinese restaurant in Dubai that 90% of people have never heard of. Located in International City (Dragon Mart area), Quanjude serves what many consider Dubai's most authentic Peking duck β a whole bird for AED 118, complete with pancakes, hoisin and spring onion, carved at the table. The Sichuan dishes hit properly. The dΓ©cor is unpolished, the service functional, and the food genuinely excellent. This is where Dubai's Chinese community eats.
