JBR has a reputation for expensive beach restaurants, and some of that reputation is deserved. But if you know where to look, The Walk and The Beach have a solid budget dining scene that JBR residents rely on daily. Here are the spots worth knowing — all under AED 80 per person for a full meal.
The best budget eating in JBR happens on The Walk (the promenade side of JBR), not at The Beach (the seafront mall). The Beach has premium views and premium prices. The Walk's back streets and ground-floor units have far more affordable, often better, food. Don't overlook the food court area in the Amwaj complex — several excellent Levantine and South Asian spots operate there with main courses under AED 50.
🟢 Under AED 40 per person — True Street Food
Wraps, snacks, quick bitesOperation Falafel — The Walk JBR
JBR's best cheap eat, full stop. Crispy falafel wraps made fresh to order (AED 25), proper shawarma plates with pickles and garlic sauce (AED 45), and hummus with warm flatbread (AED 35). The knafeh dessert (AED 30) is legitimately one of the best in Dubai at any price point. Open late, busy at all hours, and loved by every JBR resident who knows their food. Queue is fast.
Zaroob — The Walk JBR
Zaroob recreates the atmosphere of a Lebanese street food market with real conviction — the décor is all vintage signs, hanging lanterns, and the noise level of a busy Beirut side street. More importantly, the food is excellent at prices that feel almost out of place in JBR: manakish cheese flatbreads (AED 30), lahmacun (AED 25), and mezze plates that feed two for under AED 100. The chickpea fatteh (AED 45) is a highlight.
🟡 AED 40–80 per person — Casual Meals
Sit-down lunches, quick dinnersRosa's Thai — The Walk JBR
Rosa's Thai is the best casual sit-down restaurant in JBR for the price. Everything is sourced directly from Thailand and the cooking is authentic and flavourful. The pad thai (AED 85) is perfectly balanced, the green papaya salad (AED 65) is sharp and fresh, and the Thai iced tea (AED 25) is the most refreshing thing you'll drink all afternoon. For under AED 120, you'll eat superbly.
Eat Greek Kouzina — The Walk JBR
The casual, affordable sibling to Ammos. This is where JBR residents go for weekday lunches and relaxed group meals. Generous mezze plates — grilled halloumi (AED 55), calamari (AED 65), tzatziki with pita (AED 35) — come quickly and taste properly Greek. The chicken souvlaki skewers (AED 75) are exceptional value. Outdoor terrace, friendly service, no pretension.
The Grilling Room — The Walk JBR
For a sit-down grilled meal under AED 130, The Grilling Room delivers consistently. Chicken shish, lamb kofta, mixed grill platters — all cooked over charcoal and served with proper salads and flatbread. The mixed grill for two (AED 175) is the best value option and easily feeds two adults with sides. Better cooking than its modest appearance suggests.
Shake Shack — The Beach JBR
The one affordable option on The Beach proper. Shake Shack's consistently excellent ShackBurger (AED 55) and crinkle-cut fries (AED 30) give you a full meal for under AED 90, which qualifies as budget by The Beach's standards. The outdoor terrace has sea views that restaurants charging three times the price would envy. The frozen custard concretes (AED 45) are the genuine highlight.

Budget Eating Tips for JBR
Lunch beats dinner on price. Most JBR restaurants that would charge AED 180pp at dinner run lunch specials between 12pm and 3pm that bring the cost down to AED 80–120pp. Rosa's Thai, Eat Greek Kouzina, and The Grilling Room all have lunch deals worth knowing.
Stay off The Beach for budget eating. With the exception of Shake Shack, every restaurant on The Beach seafront complex is mid-range to expensive. All the best budget options are on The Walk promenade.
Go for mezze over mains. At Zaroob and Eat Greek Kouzina, two people can eat very well by ordering 3–4 sharing mezze plates (AED 30–65 each) rather than individual mains, and often end up with more food for less money.
Check the daily specials boards. Several Walk restaurants put out A-frame chalkboards with daily specials that don't appear on menus or apps — whole fish, curry of the day, pasta specials — often 20–30% cheaper than the standard menu.
